Why I Write About Film

I’m not a film maker. I’m not an actor, too. I didn’t even take Film or Mass Communication back in College. But I still blog about movies and film.
Movies have a certain magic that could transport people to a different time and place. Scenes and music. Beat and rhythm. Awe. Shock. Dropped jaw!
With the screen, both big and small, movies create a pocket plane where our minds and hearts are captured. Sometimes the process is seamless. Other times, it is labored and incomplete. Still, there are times that the experience is a stillborn child. But without a doubt, movies capture life on reel and make us understand life a bit more and perhaps, learn more about love.
This is why I love to blog about movies.
As a child, I remember a time when movie theaters were more dispersed across the country. In Roxas, Isabela where I grew up, there used to be two movie theaters. My dad would carry me atop his shoulders on a starry night and walk through the then unpaved town roads.
The movie theaters in Roxas are gone! The closest one is 45 minutes away at Santiago City or Cauayan City.
This is why I need to blog about movies.
I wanna support Philippine Cinema, Independent films, Cinemalaya, Cinemanila, UP Film Institute, Metro Manila Film Festival,Film festivals… In short, anything and everything about film.
So if you love films, too, then join me as I write about them!
