Vote for Ishmael Bernal’s Himala as CNN’s Asia Pacific Best Film of All Time
CNN sponsors the Asia Pacific Screen Awards on November 11, 2008 at Australia’s Gold Coast. It will honor one film from Asia Pacific as the best of all time. There are ten films chosen by critics, movie viewers and CNN viewers to be voted upon.
We better support Ismael Bernal‘s film Himala and show off our Filipino pride. Interestingly, this movie was screened on the year I was born. It’s been considered one of the Best Filipino films of all time. The Superstar Nora Aunor topbilled this film.

Thank you for campaigning for Himala. I honestly feel that it is one of the best films ever done by a Filipino, and not because I am a nephew of the director. To this day, decades after Himala was shown, Filipinos cry: Walang Himala! for various reasons…. No othe film has been as memorable. Each time I watch a Bernal movie I am surprised I see newer and newer dimensions and meanings, and I am talking of all his movies not just Himala. Manila By NIght is a movie about Manila that is that city’s answer to Fellini’s movie on Rome. Bernal is really, THE FILIPINO national artist for film.
@Bayani Santos Jr,
Himala won! This is a victory for Philippine Cinema. I’m glad that Himala is getting the recognition it deserves.
