Vista’s One Last Chance

When I purchased my laptop, it came with the Vista Home Premium Edition. At first I was thrilled because I had the latest Windows OS in the market. But as time went on and I used Vista daily, I had to exercise my patience everyday! And I’m not very good at it.

The User Access Control alerts me every time I open an executable file or when I open my antivirus, my firewall other applications that it feels is unsafe. Gosh. It’s like I’m clicking on the “Allow” button for as long as I could remember. I don’t even read its instructions anymore, which defeats the whole purpose. Man, oh man! starting Vista up also seems to take ten years off my life. I hate the extra time I have to sit there with face full of consternation and mock patience.

Yesterday, I decided once and for all to ditch Vista and go back to good ol’ XP SP2. My roommate has an installer and I simply have to reformat my computer and install the new old OS. Too bad for VISTA, I’m calling it quits. At four pm, I went to Recto St. to get some of my pants repaired. While waiting for the tailor to finish the job, I went to Isetann. I remembered that there was a Booksale at the Foodcourt of the mall. Since I couldn’t resist visiting a Booksale shop whenever is close by, I found myself browsing books and magazines.

I came across a PC Magazine with a cover article on how to optimize the computer in using Vista. Well and good. At first, I didn’t pay attention to it and wondered if I should buy the Poets’ and Writers’ Magazine instead. After picking up The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein, I decided to buy the
>PC Magazine.

There were a lot of tips and suggestions there on how to optimize the computer for Vista. Some of them may not be applicable to me but at least I have several tips to use in order to speed up my laptop. If you’ve been frustrated with Vista, too. Check out these tips from PC Magazine.
