“Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” on May 2009

Christian Bale seems to be having a lot of breaks recently. I can’t forget the first time I watched his performance through the movie The Prestige. He’s also playing Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the Dark Knight.

Last month, Christian Bale started working on the first installment of a new Terminator trilogy. The filming will be at Albuquerque, New Mexico. Maybe your earliest memories of Terminator is Arnold Schzwarzenegger’s (err, I’m not sure if I got that difficult-to-spell surname right. hahah) abs and his muscular body. That was before he became Governor of California.

Schzwarzenegger’s character said “Hasta la vista, baby!” But now the Terminator is back!

Christian Bale takes the role of John Connor. Terminator Salvation is set on a world after an apocalypse on 2018. This is, of course, about John Connor, the leader of the resistance movement against Skynet and its army of Terminators. John Connor’s view of the future was suddenly put into question with the appearance of Marcus Wright (played by Sam Worthington). The last memory of Marcus Wright is being put on the deathrow.

John Connor has to decide whether Wright came from the past or from the future. Together, they embark on a quest that takes them directly to the operations of Skynet. They discover the secrets of Skynet and its plans to annihilate all humans.

Terminator Salvation draws upon the popularity of the first Terminator Trilogy and The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. With these movies and TV shows, expectations are high for this film. The film also stars Anton Yelchin, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Moon Bloodgood, Common, and Jadagrace.

I have high regard for Christian Bale as an actor. I just wonder how the story could be further developed and explored from what was already shown in the past Terminator films. But arrrgh! That’s a year more before showing. Too long! Heheh.
