Never give your credit card details to anyone you do not know or trust. If these are strangers, then all the more do you need to zealously protect your credit card details. Beware of suspicious emails and phone calls from people who are after your credit card details.

When you are a frequent online shopper, provide your credit card details only to trustworthy sites such as Amazon.com, eBay and others. These sites usually display the Verisign symbol.

Keep a copy of the receipts you purchased using your credit card. When the bill arrives, you can check if such transactions are really yours. When you start doing this, you can be aware of where your credit is going and what things you are buying.
