Philippine Digital Music and Films at the first ever PhilDigi Awards
The problem with Philippine independent films | Philippine independent movies is distribution! It has a kind of cultist and elitist quality to it. Independent film festivals tend to be for film buffs only. All others excluded. The recently concluded Cinemalaya 2008 attracted a large number of viewers. Only a handful of venues screen these films such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines, UP Film Institute and Robinson Cinema’s Indie Sine.
Improving the distribution and screening of Philippine independent films and indie movies will be a development Penstalker will be watching for in the next few years. Good news then to film buffs who are not in the circulation of indie filmmakers and indie film communities, Thumb InterActiv and Blue Fish Asia bring the first ever Philippine Digital Music and Short Film Festival and Awards.
Through the PhilDigiAwards, Filipino talent in music and filmmaking will be made available to the world. The organizers want to minimize piracy and distribute Filipino digital media over the Internet. That sounds like fun! They also want to give opportunities to Filipino artists to make their work known through various means of media distribution.
PhilDigi Awards is just like reality TV contests where audience can submit their votes via SMS for the duration of the contest.
Entries submitted to this Independent Film Festival will be uploaded for public viewing at Digijooze.com and Phildigiawards.com and in the websites of the partners of the organizers.
