Dark Knight Grosses More than $500 M

The Dark Knight must have been a very good movie that it has already gone past the $500 M mark as of August 31, 2008. Heath Ledger’s death definitely added hype to the movie but the story line and the performance of the other cast led by Christian Bale and by Aaron Eckhart definitely made it such a big hit.

Officially, the Dark Knight is the second movie in all of Hollywood’s history to rake in more than $500 million dollars at the box office. It is next only to the Titanic, which garnered $600.8 million dollars. Although the latest Batman movie may not top Titanic’s record, it is expected to close at $530 million.

X-Files Star David Duchovny enters Rehab for Sex Addiction

After the X-Files movie, David Duchovny is thrust into the news again. He has entered a rehabilitation facility… not for drug addiction but for sex addiction. According to Duchovny’s lawyer, he went to the rehab facility of his own volition. Nobody forced him to it. Mr. Duchovny asked for privacy for his wife, Tea Leoni and their two kids.

Ploning is Philippine Entry to the Oscars 2009

The independent film industry in the Philippines is booming. See, the movie Ploning, which features’ Judy Ann Santos, has been chosen by the Board of Governors of the Film Academy of the Philippines as the Philippine entry to the 2009 Oscars Awards. Although Caregiver was another highly rated Filipino film, the special committee headed by National Artist for Film Eddie Romero chose Ploning.

Let’s hope that Ploning will indeed get an Oscar.

Dayo Movie to Be Screened at MMFF 2008
