Penstalker at Isabela High School Press Conference

Sleepy and dead-cold, I stepped out of the bus at the street leading to our house. After a tricycle ride, I found myself stretched on my bed trying to steal a few hours of sleep.

Home again at San Manuel, Isabela!

I went home to be an evaluator at the Journalism contest and PressCon of DepEd, Division of Isabela, held at Dona Aurora National High School in Aurora, Isabela—a mere 15-minute travel from our house. Lots and lots of high school students were excited, worried and anxious of the contest they will enter into pretty soon.

Now you know why I’m not able to post in my blogs as much as I want to. :)

Penstalker (in black jacket) at Isabela Divisions Press ConferenceA few years ago (let’s not disclose how long ago it was :D ), I felt the same anxiety and worry! A contest is a contest and it always gave butterflies in my stomach. Well, I ain’t here to compete. I’m here to be an evaluator.

I’m also here for another reason—I want to promote blogging and the use of Internet for education, business and personal expression. We have started a portal for the Cagayan Valley region at www.cagayanvalleyconnect.com and by promoting it to high school students, teachers and other writers, we can help integrate the Web into the learning process of high school students.

This is one advocacy close to my heart. I hail from Isabela, one of the provinces in Region 2. Believe it or not, when I entered College, I knew nothing about computers and the Internet. Thankfully, I survived College and learned more about computers, applications and programs, and the Internet. Since I have learned much, I can share with other kids and even oldies in our province some knowledge the Internet and how they can use it for their educational pursuits.

Special thanks to Mr. Arturo Nano, Education Supervisor 1 for English at the Department of Education, Division of Isabela.
