I’m a few days late! Dang! Anyway, here are the movies showing in Manila for the whole of September. I’ve added a short synopsis for each movie and the trailer too so you would know what to expect from the movies. If you want to watch any of these movies, just go to your favorite movie theaters such as SM Cinema, Robinsons’ Movieworld, Trinoma Cinema, Glorietta Cinema, Greenbelt Cinema and SM Mall of Asia. This is Part 1 of my post, so stay tuned for more movies showing in September.
Babylon A.D.
Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon
Right at Your Door
Congkak
Righteous Kill
Hellboy 2
Babylon A.D.
Babylon A.D. portrays the story of Toorop, a war veteran who became a mercenary with a heart. After accepting a mission of escorting a woman from Asia to New York. Along the way, he discovers that Aurora, the woman he’s escorting, is pregnant with twins who can become the hope of the world. Naturally, the bad guys want to kill the woman!
Babylon A.D. stars Vin Diesel as Toorop, Michelle Yeoh as Sister Rebeka, Melanie Theirry as Aurora and Gerard Depardieu as Gorsky. Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz.
Three kingdoms: Resurrection of the dragon
Three Kingdoms is a Chinese movie being released in the Philippines. It is a bit reminiscent of The Warlords though. A common soldier gets promoted to become a general in a Chinese kingdom.
Here’s the movie trailer for the Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon.
The Three Kingdoms stars Andy Lau, Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Maggie Q, Vannuess Wu (of F4 fame), Andy On and Rongguang Yu.
Right at Your Door
Although Right at Your Door was released in the United States back in 2006, it is being released in the Philippines only now. The story features Los Angeles that experienced multiple explosions.
Here’s the movie trailer for Right at Your Door.
Congkak
The Malaysians are releasing lots and lots of horror movies in the Philippines. Do they want to scare us Filipinos? hahahah. Anyways, Congkak is the tale of a child who plays congkak (Sungka in Filipino) at night with someone she could only see. Her mom and dad, naturally becomes worried. When the child disappears, Pak Tua, the oldest resident in the area comes to the scene to help locate the missing ones.
Here’s the scary movie trailer of Congkak.
Righteous Kill
This movie will be opened in Philippine movie houses simultaneous with the United States. Good thing! Less piracy, I suppose. Award winning actors Robert De Niro and Al Pacino gets together for this movie. Their characters, although ready for retirement, has to track a vigilante serial killer because they are the best detectives in town. Funny thing is, the murderer leaves a poem on the corpse. As the detectives uncover clues, they begin to doubt if they got the right person for an earlier crime they solved.
Here’s the movie trailer for Righteous Kill.
Hellboy 2: The golden Army
Aargh! I’ve been waiting for this movie for a few weeks now! How come they did not release it in the Philippines at the same time in the United States. Grrr!
Anyways, I’ve written about Hellboy 2 movie trailer and about the Golden Army.
