How to Apply for a BPI Credit Card
When I was applying for a credit card, I decided to conduct a credit card review and look at the deals and offers from various banks and service providers. I tried to read the fine prints and when I was satisfied, I applied. After a month of waiting, I received my credit card in the mail!
After my credit card reviews, I decided to apply at the Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI). BPI is a great bank. I also have two savings accounts there. So far, I’m satisfied with the service that they are giving me.
BPI is perhaps the oldest bank in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Its history goes back to 1851 when the Spaniards were still praying for Indios while subjugating them in the Philippines. It is the third largest bank in the Philippines so it has credibility, strength and the assets to help its customers.
If you are considering applying for a BPI credit card, you just need to keep in mind several things.
1. Check out the BPI website at http://www.bpiexpressonline.com, their promos and credit card deals are all loaded in the website. If you study it and you feel that the information there is not enough, you can always call the BPI customer service at 89-100.
2. Ask about the requirements. Ask the customer service of the nearest BPI branch to you. Usually, this would include proof of billing under your name, Certificate of Employment with your salary details, and two valid ids. If you are a freelancer like me. What you can do is to get a bank statement of your remittances and payments and show it to the bank.
3. Fill out the application forms, submit them and wait! The approval process usually takes 2-4 weeks. If your credit rating is pretty good, there won’t be any problem. But if not, sorry, it isn’t time for you yet to have a credit card.
Applying for a BPI credit card is very easy. They also do not give very high credit limit, which is the best option for me since I tend to be an impulsive buyer.

Hi! Did you submit an ITR when you applied for your CC? Or just a bank statement or remittance will do? Did you apply online or in person? Coz I was wondering if a downloaded PDF file statement from my bank’s website will do? Thank you!
Hi Noms, I was still connected with IBM Business Services when I applied so I was able to submit an ITR. Pero in your case, better if you get a certification from the bank about the status of your bank accounts.
Hi mighty im a freelancer I dont have a proof of billing…all I have is an account number from BPI and remitance got from my father..where the remitance stands for my weekly salary for developing his website and software I also dont have a TIN id…
I wanna apply a credit card because as a freelancer, most of the sites are using paypal… can you give me some advice thanks..
Hi CD, BPI has this program called xPress Start – it’s a secured credit card. all you need is to deposit atleast 10k, no character investigation no documents to submit you’ll get a pre-approved card in a week with a 70% credit limit based on your deposited money. this is good for a freelancer like you who want to start and build your own credit history. since you’re using it online i suggest you apply for the blue mastercard, it comes with a free e-credit mastercard designed for online transactions.
hope this help.
hi! i just want to ask if i apply for a BPI secured credit card, will they give me the GOLD mastercard?
Me and my girls well we’ve had more prepaid credit cards over the years than I can total, including Rushcard, Greendot, etc. But, the last few years we’ve found that one is the best for our needs AccountNow Visa. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and and piece of cake to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) AccountNow Visa’s are.
