One of the most important products that banks offer are credit cards. They advertise heavily in televisions, direct marketing strategies and in the Internet for people to sign up to them. If you are contemplating to get a credit card or not, the following five benefits of credit cards will help you decide.

With credit cards, you can choose to buy anything even with limited cash around. If you want to buy something big but you can’t manage to produce the cash now. You can purchase it and then you can pay later.

2. Using credit cards is convenient. You don’t have to carry bags of money when buying grocery, your baby’s milk, and the gadget you’ve been slavering over the past few months.

3. Credit cards enable you to shop online. In this time and age, the Internet has already become a big part of our lives. When you have a credit card, you have the option of signing up for online services, pay your bills online and order books, furniture, and other goodies.

A lot of banks and credit card service providers are offering installment plans. When you do apply for one, ask your bank if they have a special installment plan built in to the credit card. The Bank of the Philippine Islands, Citibank and Metrobank do offer this option.

But if you are careful, you don’t have to worry about this. A credit card can help you track your spending more effectively as you have the dockets and the monthly statement as references.

They say that credit cards are useless and that they can even work against you. I say, it depends! If you are careful and you are disciplined, you never need to worry about using a credit card. These five benefits of credit cards are incomplete at best but they are helpful if you are deciding to get a credit card or not.
