Crossroads Again!
I’ve just come from a very busy month. I did prepare for the National Youth Conference of the UMYFP. It was held at Pangasinan. Almost 200 young people attended the event. Whew! I thought we wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Thank God, we did! And now my term as the National President of the organization will end by May 31, 2008. I’m gonna have a normal life again. Woot!!
My leadership stint with the organization was very insightful. As a young person, i dealt with large sums of money and ensured that the spending was properly released and liquidated. I had to coordinate with bishops, pastors, leaders of different organizations and a lot of other people. I had to resign from two jobs and focus on the organization and my commitment.
That was one crazy ride!
But it will soon be over.
Now I am wondering what I will do after May 2008. Should I go back to the corporate world that I have left behind in 2006. Hmm.. That will be a tough decision to make. Well, the crossroads are here once again and I have to make a choice pretty soon regarding the direction I have to make.
In making a decision at the crossroads, the following factors do have great implications.
My passions in life. Whatever I love doing, I would certainly be doing! In fact, I might have to go back to my first loves: playing the guitar and writing!
My directions. I have established a five-year plan back in 2003 and I have formulated another one this year. So I need to consult my directions so I would not be left hanging. My batchmates in College are now Lawyers! Me? Well, let’s just say that I would like to empower young people for humanitarian reasons.
My identity and my pursuits in life. The things I do are but a manifestation of who I am inside. So whatever I plan to do next should be in line with what my heart and my mind say.
Being at the crossroads may not be easy but somehow I have a hunch that i will be continuing my freelance writing and blogging work as well as my work with young people. I gotta start my Masters’ degree as well!
Oh well, I’m gonna do what I have to do!
